I was wondering if anyone else in S Fla is moving their plants during the bad weather. I just tore down my shade house last weekend and am in the process of building a new one. So, all my plants are on my back patio. Fully exposed on the north and west sides. We could get gusts of 40 mph tomorrow. Arrrrrgh!

Good luck with the winds down there. Hopefully you wont have too many to repot after it blows through.

for some reason lots of people find texas coast a disdainful place to live...we get hit once in awhile and got wacked pretty good a few years ago, but I just dont know how you all manage in Fla. florida is the capitol of lightning strikes and high winds in the USA...Ill take an occasional flood thank you!!! get out of there while you still can! you could go rent a uhaul and pack them up in it for time being ya know keep em safe ?

Ha ha! That's funny. Oh well, the storm turned a little and now I have nothing to worry about. Just more rain and 10-15 mph winds.

Cool! The latest email notice I received (about an hour ago) said that all warnings for Florida have been cancelled!

Yup, I think this one's going to pass us by. My home is about 5 miles inland and 45 minutes south of the Space Center and there hasn't been a cloud in the sky. It's odd and a bit frustrating because there's been very little rain within a mile of my house all summer. It's difficult to collect rain water when there's no rain. A few weeks ago we had a few days of steady drizzle but that's about it in my neck of the woods. That degree of steady moisture coinsided with temperature drops, and the occassional munching insect. These things combined created havoc with some of my developing dendrobium buds. I chose to snip them off instead of watching them slowly decline and some of them have already responded by initiating healthy replacement spikes.

I wish I could keep mine outside and only worry about wind and floods.
