Orchids in the Hood - Brooklyn
Hey all,
the weather is nice enough here now for me to move the orchid collection outside. I am all set up on my fire escape in Bedford-Stuyvesant Brooklyn. Orchids in the Hood Yo!
One rack contains mostly Dockrillia - striolata does great here!
On another rack I have mainly new world hybrids.
I have Den. glomeratum hanging in the middle with some clusters of epigenium nakaharai growing in the background...

Great use of space on the "porch" as long as you don't need it for it's intended purpose.

Nice work! How often are you climbing out there to water? Hose or can?
I'd love to see them all in bloom - must be quite a sight.

Impressive display. Love the different ways you've got your collection set up. Happy growing.

I put them on my fare escape! just hope there are no inspections. The squirrels sometimes come up and dig my pots but usually not the orchids. I found a blend of water with fresh habanero/scotch bonnets peppers and some garlic keeps them away.
I like your wooden structures - did you make them yourself? do you water the orchids with a sprayer? I am close to Bed-Stuy, close to Graham and Montrose aves
