Point of possible interest and relative to location within UK (and elsewhere more than likely).
Was watching QI the other week and it had something on it about the time it takes for Spring to travel up the length of the island. Taking this into consideration for putting Orchids outside, the further South you are the sooner you should be able to put them out.
I don't remember it being an extreme difference, rather a week to two or so between the Cornwall and Scotland. Have been trying to find the relevant data to confirm numbers but alas my search is fruitless thus far.
