Must add: Did you read the News Paper story (sorry forget which paper) about the lady in London who's Banana plant is starting to fruit for her this year? A Banana Plant in London, outside and fruiting! Who would have thought!

Actually not sure it's that unusual. I went to Heligan in Cornwall 5 or 6 years ago and they had several of them out near the 'lost lake' (or something like that can't remember the exact name). They all had fruit on them and had obviously been growing there a very long time.

Banana's in Cornwall don't surprise me as much. The Golf Stream helps their climate a lot being on the west of this diverse island.
London did surprise me though... mind you it may be because it's such a big city, all that concrete... possibly retaining heat? Will have to investigate more

Mmm, I have heard something about cities being warmer than the contryside before, so it could be that.

You are right about Cornwall though. I have heard it's meant to be able to grow all sorts of things down there.

Even Coconut Palms, the nuts get washed up by the lovely warm currents. I love nature, it's always got surprises.
