This is a better view of the space. My kick and chill theory works great with me. I get lots of blooms, spikes and such. Been doing it this early for over 7 years and have yet to lose one orchid. mostly intermediate. some warm to hot also.

thats actually a part we make where I work they were sport bottle drink holders I just screwed three of them together to make the three teir plant stand. I have s hooks holding the shade cloth.
I agree w/ your "kick and chill" approach. Even my warm growing plants, like vandas and ascocendas, etc will initiate spikes with a 10-15 degree drop in temp in the late fall before coming in. And I grow masdevallias and such on my screened porch down to around or just above 40 degrees F ( have inadvertently taken them down a few times into the upper 30's with no apparent damage, so long as the humiditiy holds at a moderate level).
