Junebug, we have had some fires along the roadsides (probably from cigarette butts) that have stopped traffic on the the highway, but no danger to homes. Sounds like you guys are having it worse. Yesterday the steady hot dry wind even wilted my staghorn ferns! I have to go drench everything really well before I go to work. Everyone pray for rain!

I haven't had a chance to watch this morning's news, but someone told me 80 homes had been destroyed. In addition to prayer I think we need to do our very best rain dance. The weird thing is our temp this am was 61 degrees with no wind and again, no sign of rain. It's actually a beautiful day. Hopefully mother nature won't make up for this rain deficit by sending multiple hurricanes this summer.

Yes, I smelled smoke this morning. We are only 2 miles from the everglades in Weston. Not sure what was burning. Not good!

Junebug, dont even think about that!!!! :

We don't want to jinx the good two years with no storms we've enjoyed, now do we. LOL

I'm just praying we get rain. Miami hit a new record of 96on Monday. On the plus side the dry weather is encouraging stuff to bloom.

Looks like the Alley saved the other side of the road... The opposite side doesn't look like it was burned at all.

Swamper, I agree with you. The showers may only last 10 minutes, but at least something is more than nothing.

We have had no rain in weeks and weeks. I can't remember the last time.

I'm hoping the rainy season is only around the corner. We haven't had too many fires in our area yet. If it doesn't rain soon I'm sure we are going to see them.
