Yes, I smelled smoke this morning. We are only 2 miles from the everglades in Weston. Not sure what was burning. Not good!

Junebug, dont even think about that!!!! :

We don't want to jinx the good two years with no storms we've enjoyed, now do we. LOL

I'm just praying we get rain. Miami hit a new record of 96on Monday. On the plus side the dry weather is encouraging stuff to bloom.

Ugh! It's been beastly hot here in Miami for weeks and we haven't seen hide nor hair of the rainy season yet. I've been having to drench my outdoor orchids at least once a day for months now. It's rather disheartening...

And now with the Everglades burning, it's not even pleasant to be outside because of all the smoke. *cough* *cough* *cough*

Funny how the same time last year the Glades were on fire... when crossing Alligator Alley to go to Redlands, both sides were affected. Here's some pics from last year:

Heading west on Gator Alley from Redlands (I-75)

North side of Gator Alley

Helicopter refilling large vats of water in one of the drainage canals outside of the Fakahatchee Strand in order to douse some of the fires.

This is a video I took of some previous burns just outside the Fakahatchee Strand. The burns really devastate everything in its path!

Looks like the Alley saved the other side of the road... The opposite side doesn't look like it was burned at all.

Swamper, I agree with you. The showers may only last 10 minutes, but at least something is more than nothing.

We have had no rain in weeks and weeks. I can't remember the last time.

I'm hoping the rainy season is only around the corner. We haven't had too many fires in our area yet. If it doesn't rain soon I'm sure we are going to see them.
