Ourdoor epiphytes in coastal northwest of US

What kind of epiphytic orchids can be grown outdoors in Eureka in northern California (or anywhere from there up to Washington)? Of course, these would be kept under the eaves during the soggy winter. Most years it seems to only get down to 28. Would I be pretty much limited to Laelia anceps/purpurata? I have heard of people growing outdoors in San Francisco, but is this simply too far north? Lemon trees, Mexican fan palms, and queen palms manage to survive.

Very cool idea. May i ask why you are just looking to outdoor them? You can mount on moveable bases and hang them inside in winter

For your query look up any native orchids and of none, look latitudinally around the globe and start googling the natives of those areas.

I like the idea of orchids being outdoors mostly. I know some of my warm growers will need a greenhouse. But I love the idea of pushing the limits too.

All the native orchids are terrestrials, including a couple Cypripedium species. I know for sure I will be getting into that genus.

Epidendrum magnoliae and Vanda falcata would likely survive your low temperatures, and be able to deal with any summer heat you get.
