Platanthera clavellata, the little club spur bog orchid. I collected 2 plants a couple years ago with permission from a neighbor's property and put them in my bog garden. Although they were growing in very shady conditions I find they adapt well to full sun. First pic is one of the plants planted in an area that didn't get torn up by squirrels and chipmunks, showing how well the plant spread when left alone. The blooming plant in the second pic was dug up several times by the vermin and replanted since I initially planted it. A motion detecting sprinkler seems to have solved the problem:

Wow, the bog is looking great. How many years has it been now? The plants seem to be adapting very well. And live sphagnum, too. I'm envious.

Shooting them and publicly crucifying them seemed to work, but after damage was already done. This sprinkler has been very effective at preventing damage completely. The real test will be this fall when the vermin start caching nuts for the winter.

Oh, you SAY that, but you tell hilarious rodentia stories! I know quite a few here that would love to hear those stories.
