had a nice walk the other day and i was treated to some nice local flora and fauna.

there is some sort of a staghorn fern growing out of the cruck in the tree too
not entirely sure what kind of tilly this clump is but it had been blown out of a live oak

appears to replicate by pups so i am going to soak it and cut a section off and then re seed it around the neighborhood into three or four liveoaks

black racer snake.
this guy was flying through the hedge looking for lizards (i presume). i am used to seeing them on the ground and so he gave me a jump but then he wanted to pose and glam for the camera LOL

this was not from that walk but still in the neighborhood...
this is a banyan tree (they rule) and i
assumethat 10-20 years ago someone just thought they were funny and tied a knot from the root strands....over time the strands thicken and become stilt-like supports, almost like a flying buttress, and this was the result...amazing

it had rained earlier in the day and the trees were heavy with water....when it got windy this was the result...magical (click the pic to see the video(4 seconds)
