Piping Rock Orchids Pre-Orders for May OSA Meeting
Hey OSA members,
I'm sure you all know about Glen Decker's visit to Edmonton this May. I've just learned that the deadline for pre-orders will be April 30th. More information can be found on the OSA website under "News".

If you're interested in a Phrag Alfredo Manrique, they are $100-175 (it says "inquire" on the website) and there are only a few left!

Oh, and by the way, pre-orders will get a 10% discount. I forgot to mention that on the website - I'm gonna add that now.

I have a Phrag Alfredo Manrique back near the beginnings when Zephyrus orchid's had them for sale (I don't believe they have them left, so Piping rock is the choice today...). I had good expectations for this cross before any of them bloomed out or got awarded...but it is taking longer than expected to bloom compared to our fellow forum members in the USA. Maybe later this fall, or if it decides to bloom on newer shoots, then the following year.
kovachii x Living Fire 4N is more vigorous vegetatively, it has send out two new growths rather than bloom (A good thing, first blooms on single growths with bigger flowers are no good sometimes). But the blooms might be twisted... I should have gotten a Haley Decker instead for rounder flowers, although smaller.
Peruflora’s Cirila Alca (kovachii ‘Tupac Amaru’ x dalessandroi) I might get...A little costly. I still have to decide if I should do it
But I will definitely buy something! I won't miss out on their visit

You are lucky to have kovachii hybrids already! It's really my fault I don't, because I'm always too shy/cautious to order stuff on the net and I do it very rarely. I'm not really that fond of Phrag Alfredo Manrique though, (I know, I'm crazy!) so I won't be getting one of them.
I have put in the biggest plant order I have ever had for this visit (and that's saying something), so my years of avoiding Internet buying are about to be compensated for!

I have to admit I'm a little concerned about that deadline, because usually vendors take a month to get Appendix I permits...but I'm sure Glen knows what he's doing!
