I was driving through the hills near Arenal in Costa Rica and found several orchids blooming near the road.
1. an Anacheilium fragrans that smelled very strongly of honey.

2. a Masdevallia chontalensis, very small orchid that I only noticed when I got out of the car to check out a different orchid.

3. a Oerstedella wallisii, very showy blooms that were growing on live fence post trees right next to road.

I also seen Epidendrum eburneum, Maxillaria fulgens and a Oncidium stenotus but the pictures didn't turn out very good. I was very surprised at how many orchids were in bloom. And as a bonus I finally came across one of my bucket list Costa Rican animals that I've wanted to photograph for years but never came across.
