About a month ago my husband and I attended a wedding in Camp Sherman, Oregon. On the drive back to Portland we made a slight detour to do a mini hike by Sahalie and Koosah Falls in Willamette National Forest. To my delight, my husband spotted a Calypso bulbosa var. occidentalis!
Because this was my first ever wild orchid spotting, I wanted to share it with you all! We didn't get many quality photos, but I've attached the best two here.
We only saw maybe 4 or 5 of these in bloom. They were located in cool, shady spots. I had been hoping to see some wild orchids on our trip, and I was not disappointed!
