Wild orchid can or cannot take

Upon further reading it appears that it is illegal to collect wild grown plants ( not just orchids) in all parts of Malaysia according to their laws.

Yeah, the divisions are wild grown as well so it would make sense that divisions of wild grown plants would be illegal too

Why would anyone plant a non native species in the wild? Doesn't matter why, fact is it has happened and continues to happen. Without knowing where you live, I would be willing to bet that half of the plants in your area considered native by average residents are in fact introduced species. The situation is likely the same with fish, and why would anyone put non native fish into a waterway? Ask your state department of fisheries or whatever they call it, because they likely release non native species in large numbers. Why indeed!

I can attest that the rain forest in Puerto Rico is full of non-native plants (probably escaped house plants). Some are quite invasive, like Brazilian Firespike.

I didn't consider that there would be people planting non native species.

It is indeed happening all over the world that foreign species are being introduced. We have a terrible problem with Signal Crayfish, outstripping native crustaceans in local rivers.

I am very envious of the OP, that he is lucky enough to find both native orchids such as phalaenopsis and non natives like cattleyas, bring them home and even get them to bloom.

To the OP, next time you are out collecting orchids, could you take a camera and post some pictures, I would love to see how they are growing in your neighbourhood.
