Default Epipactis gigantea

Just recently, I discovered this flower in the middle of my lawn. Who would expect an orchid in a desert? I potted some of the plants scattered around the garden and not surprisingly, most of them were found in the overgrown vegetable patch. Fingers crossed, I hope they don't die on me =P.

There is a nice stand of Epipactis gigantea in Joshua National Park at The Oasis. As long as their is constant water, it seems to grow pretty much anywhere. I grow it in my yard, and we had temps up to 116 F.

Wow, what a cool thing to be finding as 'weeds' in your garden.
