'Tis the season for ghosts
Default 'Tis the season for ghosts

Adding to the haunting noises of bellowing gators, hissing snakes, and humming mosquitoes, the Ghost Orchid (Dendrophylax lindenii) quietly blooms in the deepest recesses of the deep southern swamps of south Florida. Here is one we found in flower this year:

On a related note, the Super Ghost Orchid at Corkscrew Swamp is in full bloom with 10 flowers open and another 10 buds to go.

Enjoy!

I'm so thankful that there is someone like you who will actually go out there and photograph such beauty. For that I thank you.

When I was considerably younger, I would muck around in the swamps with my snake boots on, and a lunch for later....

Those days are so LONG gone.

Thanks for posting!

Stunning! I can easily say that these are one of my top 5 favorite orchids. I'm so jealous that you are able to find them growing wild in your vicinity! Great pictures and great find
