Default Lake Elizabeth and its orchids

Lake Elizabeth is an alpine lake in the North Cascades with a rich variety of native orchids. I've posted several individual photos but the blog links below show many more. The lake is also a good place for butterflies and other wildflowers. Quite a few of the landscape photos are my wife's.

What a beautiful place. One of these days your gonna post a photo of something mythical you bumped into on your hikes.

It is one of our favorite places and there's another lake further up that's a bit of a scramble. I tried to find it last fall, but it was a very foggy day, the trail was little more than a few broken branches, I was soaked from head to foot, cold and afraid I would get lost without a compass, map or GPS and gave it up.

We intend to get up to the other lake this coming summer.
