This is one of our favorite places for a short stop. It's about seven miles off the main highway on a rather rough road, but having reached the lake one can just sit and enjoy or hike around the lake on a trail that is hard to fin in places. Most of the sedge mat on the south side of the lake can be explored as well and there is a boggy area on the east side that is a treasure of wildflowers. The road was washed out for several years and then it required a long hike to get to the lake and we did that too several times.
