Sorry, been traveling. Will post the names I have for the Cattleyas as soon as I get back to my machine. Probably a couple of weeks, but maybe sooner.

How phenomenal it must be to just stroll out and find such - you know that you have a lot of N. American cousins that are very envious!

Well, the coffee I drink won´t make you see orchids, but it sure is tasty. Google up Dieseldorf Kaffee -- awesome stuff -- we have a near religious preference for their "Exclusivo Blend".

Attached are a few the Cattleya's I have Id'ed and a couple I have not (ID suggestions welcome!). Those I've ID'ed have at least the partial name in the photo file name.

Enjoy!

It must be nice to be able to grow them naturally, outdoors. There are some real beauties there! I love the shape of the epidendrum.

Yes, it is. Several species of epi occur naturally, and prolifically, here. I have so many pictures of them that I have declared a moratorium on taking epi pictures unless it is some variety I have not seen before.

A few pics attached with names embedded in the file name. I have pics of a few more which I think are epi's, but have not ID'ed yet.

Re-discovered an orchid today. It is a terrestrial orchid (not ID'ed yet) which was overgrown in a flower bed, but it is now blooming!

Also, an Oncidium in bloom.

A nice Oncidium (Sherry Baby) blooming today.

Also, some very colorful bromeliads coming into "bloom". Despite my self-imposed moratorium on Epi pics I did take a couple today -- one of a nice Epi nocturnum right next to a colorful bromeliad. And, one of a Epi pygmaeum in bloom...extremely small flower -- that is the nail of my little finger next to it for scale. Could probably fit at least half-a-dozen of the flowers on there.

I sure would love to be able to stroll around and see those beauties! We do have lovely green ferns and colourful mushrooms in the winter. The odd garden flower is still in bloom. Not the same.

An update from recent strolls...

The torrential rains of wet season have ended and we are into what I call the "winter rains" -- gentle rains of long duration and cooler temps...the orchids are loving it.

A Cattleya triple play -- a Thiago with three huge blooms!

Trigodendrums (indigenous) are blooming all over the place.

"Black Orchid" (indigenous) as well.

Other plants are happy too, Mango trees are blooming (yum...).
