Default Corals and Phantoms at Dog Mountain

Dog Mountain is in the Columbia River Gorge. We found endless Coralroots and Phantom Orchids there when we hiked last spring. The picture is of another wildflower, but there are plenty other orchid pictures in the post:

That is a gorgeous flower. It looks very dainty and the colors are captivating to the eye as well as the form.

Thanks, Bud. The orchids were the stars, though.

Wonderful. That first shot of the Phantom Orchids is wonderful. So white! I always love the Coralroots you show and these are no exception. Glad you made the decision to take that path

I also think the mist/fog gives a great look to your shots of the trees

Beautiful Phantoms. I have yet to see one. Planning on hiking next year in Yosemite and Sequoia - hopefully I will see one someday.

The Corralroots are stunning as well.

Thanks for sharing.

Hi Jane,

Hope you find some in Yosemite and Sequoia. If you don't there are some in northern Cal that I can direct you to.

I've hiked Dog Mountain before, but it wasn't the right time of year for the phantoms. Guess I'll have to visit home sometime in July if I can arrange it.

Beautiful pictures again, Ron. Ignore my question about the Goodyera on your other post. You answered my question in this one! I love the different color forms of the Coralroots. Saw a nearly all-yellow form in the Packwood area. Didn't have a good enough camera to do them justice in the dark places they were growing though.
