Derby Canyon
Derby Canyon is on the eastern side of the Cascades near Peshastin, Washington. We usually stop there to see the Mountain Lady's Slippers in bloom. The link is a post of our visit there last spring with other pictures of the Slippers.

Very nice form. I love the colors and shape. I will someday have time to go out there and look at orchids in nature....just as you did....

Thanks, Jim. I'll reply to your note later tonight or tomorrow night - just got back from a major hike.

Thanks, Dave. You should come and see our part of the world. I'd be delighted to show you around, especially the native orchids.
On another note, we hiked about 15 miles of grueling mountain trails yesterday looking for the rarest of the rare, the little Platanthera chorisiana. Didn't find it, though.

For me the thrill is in the hunt and makes the reward so much sweeter. I would love to see your part of the world and with any luck I will. Keep up the work.

The thrill of the hunt is why we are so into native orchids. Nothing quite like finding a new one or finding one in a place you haven't seen it before.
