Thanks, Sonya. I love growing orchids, but there is something about finding them in the wild that is hard to explain ....

I bet! I've only spotted any the one time, wasn't actually looking for orchids - just spotted wild flowers that seemed unfamiliar, so had a closer look - was quite tickled when I realized it was an orchid!

Northern California really has a nice selection of wild orchids - you should find out if there is a local native orchid society in your area. That's how we got hooked.

We'll be down in Southwest Oregon the first part of July looking for natives. That's just across the border from you.

Hmm... I'll look into that, would be cool. While I am in No. Cal. I'm in the south SF bay area - still aways from the Oregon border. I'm sure I don't need to ask you to remember to take photos please Looking forward to seeing them

Very nice!

I'm on my way back to San Diego from a short vacation in the north part of the coastal redwoods just outside of Orick. I spent a whole day looking for native orchids only to come up empty. I guess I'll need to do some research on where to find them next time!
