Yeah - it's funny, at the entrance to this park, they have info and warnings and what to do if you encounter mountain lions and coyotes, as well as tick info - honestly - I'm much more concerned about the ticks!
It's fine if you stay on the trail, but you don't find the orchids that way. Last time I was there, was the last time I was there because I found lots of ticks on my dog afterwards. That was during a mild but wet winter. With the mild winter we just had, I would think there's a good chance there's lots of ticks.
So, just going on my memory, and looking up at what orchids might be found in the area, I'm pretty sure it was Spotted Coralroot
