I heard about this orchid in late november, and the very next day I went to Amsterdam for a plant-insect interaction workshop, and what do you know, I met some of the researchers from Leiden University that work with Ed de Vogel! In fact a guy I met during my MSc is doing his PhD partially under his supervision (more of an advisor since he's retired), and living with him during his short time in the Netherlands. He'll be based in Costa Rica working on the the phylogenetics/systematics and niche ecology of the Pleurothallidinae, in an attempt to put some order in the subtribe.
Needless to say, I had some VERY nice discussions with great orchid scientists.
A shame the bulbo is a night bloomer, or else I would have gone to see it one day.
