I'm new to Vanda's, but the general culture would be high light (around 4000 footcandles), and daily watering (if not two or three times a day if bareroot and you have low humidity levels). When you water, submerge the roots in luke-warm water to slightlly warm for several minutes until the roots turn good and green. The slight warmth of the water as opposed to cold water should help stimulate the roots to grow. Also, they are heavy feeders, so be sure to fertilize every week as well.

Mokara is easy to grow. You can ease it slowly to get direct sunlight. They love to drink a lot and eat a lot...I have one mokara in S/H method. Your plant is still young its in its first bloom...the roots will grow as soon as it is aclimatized to your environment. My Mokara Chao Praya Boy is a big 7 yrs old and have roots that is presently going everywhere(see picture)

How long have you had the mokara in s/h?
I have always read that vandaceous orchids like to dry between waterings, so I have never had the nerve to try s/h for vandas.I would think that they would rot.

Wonderful! It is so easy to care for plants in s/h! I imagine that at the rate their roots grow that they might need re potting often to keep the roots from growing into the water. But it sure beats watering so often.

Do you have to re pot often to keep the roots from growing into the water? I would love to try a Mokara but I have read that they can get very big.

That is often. It's a good thing that they aren't picky about their roots being disturbed.
