It is even more incredible when seen and smelled - they are very fragrant and perfume the air.

Thanks, Baz and Cathy. Now that you say it, they do look a bit like lupines from a distance - the flowers definitely do not look anything like them, however.

One of my favorite native orchids. I once came upon a large hillside seepage area along the Pacific Crest Trail that was absolutely covered with them. I smelled them before I saw them. Absolutely wonderful!
