Default #4 - Corallorhiza maculata on Whidbey Island

We've been out orchid hunting and I've added a number of post to my blog with text and pictures describing some of our native orchids in their habitats. Here is the Western Spotted Coralroot on Whidbey Island in the San Juans:

Native Orchids of the Pacific Northwest and the Canadian Rockies: Corallorhiza maculata on Whidbey Island

Love that first photo especially Ron. Great to see those clumps of them.

They were incredible this year - the wet cold weather may have had something to do with it, but they are strange plants, never quite in the same place you saw them the year before and popping up in unexpected places.

How cool! Nice pictures, this is a very pretty species.

They are beautiful, Tindo. We try to get out to see them in different locations every year.
