The 6 I found were all about 2 years old so they were only 2" long, but I checked on 30 other ghosts I keep track of and all have buds formed which are about 2-3 weeks away from opening. 1 other ghost had a fully developed bud that was about 5-7 days away from opening on Sunday the 15th, so I'd guess that by Sat-sun the first ghost will open....from what I can put together after talking with a few people.

Didn't see any clamshells in bloom....lots of plants....but none in flower didn't see a single one this year in bloom.

I'm hoping to go out tomorrow to take my girlfriend so she can see her first ghost orchid.


Keep your eyes open when you go out.....it's baby season in the swamp and these little buggers are out and sunning themselves. Watch where you put your hands & feet.

Went back out yesterday with my girlfriend in hopes of her seeing her first ghost in bloom. Well, she would have if the flower I took her to see hadn't gotten pollinated and begun to wilt. I guess we can't complain......after all.....it completed a very difficult and rare life cycle....right?

Still got a cool pic of it.


Also secured the E. Strobiliferum to its host tree. It was a tad heavy and was sagging. Just needed some reinforcement. hope it stays around a lot longer.
