Two more Spanish species!
Default Two more Spanish species!

Here is a follow up on my orchid finding progress in Extremadura Spain.

Two new developments! (for my first thread on wild orchids in spain click this link http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ies-spain.html)

The first three photos are of a very pale morph of Neotinea maculata. This speceis loves shady moist conditions and I found this one growing in near full shade, which is even shady for this plant. This may explain the lack of purple in the flowers which is normal for this species. Luckily I discovered the Macro Zoom on my camera beacuse these flowers are very small.

The next I found while on an excursion with a friend of mine who is a botanist. He invited me to go out and do some plant surveying near the border with Portugal. There he pointed out this Serapias lingua. I didnt have time to linger so these are a bit snatpshotty.

Unfortunaly the season for the Ophrys has passed and I have missed the flowers. Fortunatly I am the kind of person who will look very closely at the shriveled flowers at the end of the seed pods, and try to identify them so i still have hope to see them!

thanks for looking!

Wow! Very nice. Those are great finds. It feels so nice to find orchids in the wild.
