Well I have seen a very large part of the Fakahatchee and have decided I haven't searched enough of BC. And let me say I'm finding more Ghost in BC then I ever have in the Strand. Over 200 just today.

I've heard there are some crazy ghost areas there. Wish Miguel could have seen those. I'm looking for the lost orchids so I still think the Fakahatchee is the place to be. Call me if you think you have found any of the lost ones!!!

Most gators want nothing to do with people. but you do need to pay attention. Snakes are more of a concern and Cats claw vine.

Yeah , I have been to Florida. The highway between Naples and Miami is one of my fave places. Took some places. Got really close to some alligators. I know crocodiles would hunt and chase humans, but alligators tend to avoid humans. But you know if you are in the thick of the vegetation you may get close to some huge alligator. You read once in a while of people (not just kids) killed by alligators. Also I wonder when you are wading in the water the alligator may feel more bold. What kind of snakes? those invasive pythons or poison snakes?
Anyway, thanks for the photos, really nice. make me miss Florida, and make me wish I was into orchids and plants etc like I am now when I spent time there.
I have an Enc. tampensis on my window. no blooms but is one of the best growing seedling I bought.
In those photos in the swamp seems to grow in dark shade. do those Encyclias ever get sun there?

No they tend to stay away. We have Eastern Diamondback Rattlers and Cotton mouth moccasins. The pythons need to worry about us.
Tempensis grow in every condition there is. Full sun to mostly shaded. And down here they prefer to be left alone.
