Also known as the leafless beaked orchid they can be found on roadside in most of Florida. This one was found growing on a cypress knee in Big Cypress. Although this eye catching Coral to Brick red Variety is the most common, they can also be seen in a yellow (forma folsomii) variety and a greenish white (forma albidaviridis) variety.
Very cool Dave. I've been looking around for one of these but haven't found any yet this year. It is cool that you found this on top of a cypress knee.
