A few pics from Mexico
Hey all,
Just a couple pictures from the area around Coba in Yucatan, Mexico. Maybe some are near Tulum as well, at Muyil ruins. Pretty area, the forest was primarily tropical, not all that wet, but fairly humid. All the epiphytes seemed to like a certain species of tree, with quite oak-like bark. Anyway, the schomburgkia pictured were out of bloom, but the spikes were still hanging, some were easily 12'. There's a really good Brassavola in the same pic as the schom., but the photo quality is bad, and it was 60' up in the tree. Huge blooms on that one, can't tell if it's a B. glauca with long, thin sepals, or a giant flowered nodosa, or something else! It must be a Nodosa, with so many flowers on a spike.
Enjoy,
tyler
