Lorraine, you mean they bloom more than once?
I had one once that bloomed twice but I killed it before it had a chance to bloom again. I have always loved them though and now that I'm here I'm bound and determined to get one to live!
I'm in Cape Coral and and loving the weather this winter. First winter since I was a kid that I've enjoyed! Bet your glad your not in PA this year. I can't believe all the snow their getting up there and the temps they have are horrific!! Brrrrrrrrr

Toocrazy, you might check out the thread on Continual/Sequential bloomers. I believe it's located in the Beginner section. That way, you might be able to have an easy one that blooms almost year round while you learn others that bloom once or twice a year. Just a thought.

My goal when I started collecting was to have something blooming all year. And I did do that. I did a lot of homework and asked questions. I have one plant that I looked for and finally found, it has bloomed constantly on each new growth without fail Stlma Kelly 'Lea'. I mounted it and put in on my patio table. Phals have had blooms on then for many months. I keep being surprised. Psychopsis is another. Check with the vendors at a show and ask"which one will bloom more than once a year?

Oh wow! I had no idea there were orchids that flowered all year long. Thank you both for the info. I'm off to check it out now.

I can remember when it so common to see tempensis in the wild all over the Tampa Bay area. My Grandmother was an orchid grower and would point them out. She had a friend on Bayshore Blvd that had a huge one on an old water oak in their front yard.I haven't thought of that in a long time I'll have to see if it is still there next time I drive by.

If you want info on Phals, there's no shortage of info on them here on the OB.

This site is literally plagued with info on them.

You can pull up the OB search engine and go at it.

Beautiful butterfly orchid. I love when the pseudobulbs are that deep purple/red color.
