PLANTS Profile for Listera australis (southern twayblade) | USDA PLANTS

australis - Species Page - ISB: Atlas of Florida Vascular Plants

Listera australis - Species Page - NYFA: New York Flora Atlas

Listera australis - Species Page - APA: Alabama Plant Atlas

FSU Herbarium - Specimen Details

ITIS Standard Report Page: Listera australis

Basically, it appears that Baumbach, a German, reassigned this species in 2009 to Neottia bifolia and Kew decided to bestow their royal favor on this reclassification. As I stated before, this appears to be a bit of Eurocentric favoritism. For those who don't believe that politics and taxonomy don't go hand in hand, I have a bridge in London to sell you.

At the rate we are heading now, what are we going to end up with, everything being an epidendrum?

Speaking of which, isn't Epi. cilliare really in the Catt family?

No Withner called them Coilostylis but the accepted name is still Epidendrum ciliare.
