Should have added that the purple color of the stems shows so clearly because these plants have little or no chlorophyll.

Yes, I haven't had a chance to look for them yet, as when I go for hikes, it is usually higher in altitude in the alpine habitat on the coastal range (Garibaldi area)

There are a number of native orchids in that area. We find native orchids growing at higher altitudes. Lake Elizabeth where we last saw Western Coralroots is at about 3000 ft, and we hiked in Mount Robson PP this summer and found orchids growing up to 6000 feet.
