They tend to flower across a rather wide spectrum of color, the stems varying from deep purple to pale lavender to yellow or yellow-green, with flowers that are not quite so variable, but do show different amounts of purple color, clear evidence, I think, of the fact that they are interbreeding and and are not distinct varieties, but only color forms.
