I've been staying in Meanguera, Morazan, El Salvador for about a week now, and I'll be here for about two more weeks. Already I've seen lots and lots of incredible orchid specimens in situ, including LOTS of Encyclias, some Cattleyas, even some Catasetums! But this is the first that I've seen in bloom! I haven't even gone out hiking or in the mountains specifically to look for orchids yet, I've just been hanging out here doing the mission work that I can for and keeping my eyes open for orchids. I didn't realize how abundant some of them are! There are at least 10 different specimens in the tree right next to the house that I'm staying in! I found this one right in front of one of the houses I visited this morning.
