And most of all,
THANKS DAVE!!! For a well guided tour. Did your camera survive?
BTW, did I tell ya our fearless leader took a splash?... heh heh!!
Susie was a trooper! Eddy kept up. Gil moaned but only had mere hours of sleep the night before. Me, I could still be out there in all of nature's glory.
Four ghosts spotted, another leafless orchid, 6 or 8 epiphite orchids, 1 native terrestrial, and the spotted african orchid, cool clear flowing water, temps in the 70's, it was like heaven.

Ok everyone I am so sorry I missed this. I have been waiting for the guys to come put a new roof on my house and they came yesterday. On that note I had some rotten facia boards that had to be replaced before they could put the tiles on and get the final on the permit. There was no way I was gonna finish all of this tomorrow before the inspector comes on Monday or Tuesday.
Anyway it really looks like you all had a blast. It was a beautiful day and all I've been thinking of all day is how much fun you all were having while I was stuck doing hard work. Anyway like I said sorry I missed it but I can guarantee the next trip I am there for sure. Love the pictures keep posting em it's beautiful out there!

a trip to the Fakahatchee Strand
OHHH, thanks for the lovely pictures. It looks like you all had a really fun time. The "cutie" must not have been hungry or he might have been thinking, roasts, chops, hams, yum,yum
Those pics of the gator reminded me of the time, many years ago, in some part of Fla. probably along alligator alley, that DH and I stopped to look at what was probably a good place to see gators. There was a barrier, nothing more than a couple of posts and wire strung between them, to keep you out of the gator's habitat. There was a woman standing there with a small dog on a leash. The dog was going crazy barking. And why? Just a couple of feet in front of him was a good size gator. The woman obviously did not see the gator, she was looking farther into the vegetation. I assume the gator was not hungry because it would not have been more than a few steps forward for him to grab the dog and be off.
I'm looking forward to your next trip and hope that time the ghosts are blooming.

That other leafless orchid you saw and you photographed is a ribbon orchid.
The splash ? LOL refreshing, scary, embarrassing, costly if you have electronic equipment.
Bet you can't wait to go back.

yea! it's not the first time and I bet it wont be the last but I will be looking into a waterproof camera.
I was hoping you were going to make it. As I understand it they would like to see a ghost flower in June so maybe then you and Mike can at least meet us out there.

I called Mike but he didn't answer. Must not be feeling too hot right now and I didn't really feel like going without him. But I'm hoping we will join you guys next time.
