What time do we meet up?

And which location? (main park entrance off of US 41, or off of Tamiami Trail?)

OK the best place to meet is the rangers station (the red star on the map above. If your traveling from Broward County, take US 75 or Alligator Alley west to SR 29 Then make a left or south on SR 29. The Entrance to the park is about 18 miles on your right. Once you turn off SR 29 make your first right (Jane's scenic trail) and now you are heading toward the ranger station. There will be a tall fire tower just before you turn in to building. As for you in Miami, take US 41 or Tamiami trial to SR 29 and make a right or north, the entrance will be about 4 mile on your left the follow directions as above.

It's about a 2 hour drive of the east coast and we should be at the rangers station between 8:00 am and 8:30 am. on the 24th.

Default Trip to the Fakahatchee Strand

And we do expect a FULL report of the adventure. Pictures, even videos, if possible and a good explanation of what you saw ie:names of the orchids, please. Have a bit of pity for those of us who live too far away or are unable to accompany you all.

Dave, is that Hwy 29 a nice paved road the whole way from Alligator Alley to the Ranger Station? If it is I will go that way just to see what it looks like (never been on that stretch of road). Also, what's the speed limit (is 65-70 ok?) Not interested if it is 35!

Everyone getting ready for the hike?

I called it highway 29 but actually it's SR 29 and Yes it is paved and the speed limit is around 60 maybe a little less at Panther Crossing area's. You being in Weston, it's the only way to go without adding about 30 miles. There is a one way toll as you get on the Alley 2.00 or 2.50. Stay to the right if you have Sunpass. Ha, I get ready for the next trip the day after I return from one.
