Would anyone like to go next weekend (Apr 24 or 25)? If so, which day, Sat or Sun?

I am in Miami, FL and I have been in the glades plenty but never have gone to the strand, have passed by it plenty of times though. I would definetly be willing to go next weekend, probally better on a Saturday for me. But would also like to go in June and July to see the ghost! Get me on chat or pm sometime to see if we can get enough people and have a good get together.

Great, Kasper! Now we're talking! Come on everyone, you know you want to go. Get some exercise and fresh air, plus see some wild orchids, birds, and other wildlife. Not to mention getting to meet some other OB members face to face.

Thought I would let you all know what to bring to make your trip more enjoyable.
1. Cooler for food/drink
2. I freeze a couple water bottles to drink while searching
3. Light weight long pants and shirt
4. Change of cloths/shoes for drive home.
5. A hand held battery operated fan ($2.00 at walmart) Helps with the bugs as well as heat
6. Shoes that you don't care if they get wet (hiking boots preferable but sneakers will do)
7. Bandanna and towel
8. Bug/sunscreen (I usually have this)
9. And of course your Camera!

If I think of anything else I will post it here.

I have a question about something I always wanted to do. My father about 25 years ago was working in an area where they were clearing land and building homes. They were filling the whole area with sand so he said around lunch time he saw a lone tree way out in the distance and took a walk there he found some Encyclia tampensis, which I know is native down here. So he took the orchid off the tree because the guys with the bulldozer were gonna knock the tree down and dispose of it. Who knows how many more orchids were destroyed in clearing that land. Really sad when you think of it.

Anyway I know it is illegal to take these orchids now of course. But we have a bunch of huge clumps of these and I always wanted to take some out and mount them out in the Glades in different spots. Do you think I could bring some out on this trip and we can mount little clumps in different spots? flhiker you probally know better than anyone since you have been out there before, do you think this is possible to do?
