Default Clump of Lady's Slippers

I've posted some close-up pictures of these flowers, but this is how we found them growing by the hundreds - in clumps that were often much larger than this.

Wow, great to see them in clumps like that. I always like to see how things grow in nature.

In the areas where we found them they were everywhere. It was one of the best parts of our five-day backpacking trip.

Ron, Thanks for posting the pics. It reminds me of when I was 8, and living in Michigan. There was an old overgrown graveyard, and I would go there in the summer to pick wild asparagus. Not far off was this forrest and there I saw wild lady slippers in an alba form. Mind you, this was 42 years ago. Great memories, and even though I've seen slipper orchids, it was your pics that stirred up those past memories. WOW! Thanks!

There is a white Lady's Slipper that grows in Michigan - it's one I've not seen and is quite hard to find. Glad, though that my pictures brought back happy memories.

Love seeing these posted growing in the wild! My grandfather used to point these out while we were on nature hikes, and it never really sunk it until lately. Nice Find

They were probably far more common in his day, but people then (generally) took more note of what they saw around them.
