Mountain Lady's Slipper
Not as spectacular as the pink or yellow slippers, but to my mind the most beautiful of them all is the Mountain lady's Slipper, Cypripedium montanum. These were photographed on a hillside near the town of Dunster, British Columbia.

Boy Ron, All these beautiful pictures you have been posting of your Rockies trip are great. It's so nice to see these beauties in situ. I, for one, really appreciate the chance to see them. Makes me want to hop in the car and go west!
thanks, Bill

You should! The Rockies are beautiful from one end to the other, but the area we were in is special.

I missed this earlier on, Nick, but I've noticed that you live in Alberta, not that far from where we found all these orchids. You should go see them if you get a chance and if you interested we found the local native orchid society a great deal of fun.

Sometimes I get confused when I've seen pics (like this one) and forget to comment for some reason.
Anyway glad it was bumped by Connie because I get to look at it again and enjoy it again.
I just love the form of these, and the contrast of the dark green sepals/petals and the white of the slipper. These sorts are what make be fall in love with Cyps and I hope I can one day get at least some of them to grow in my garden (once I get up the nearve to try).
