That's good to hear...so, we're only missing a seed pod...while that is still a loss, it's a loss that can be recovered from much more easily than an entire missing mature plant. Perhaps an extra-extra-large "moth" could help pollinate a couple of flowers within a known population to make up for the loss.

Thanks for the clarification, Miguel.

the problem is that the person who took the polinated plant knows most likely where a bunch of GHOST ORCHIDS live I've already contacted the Park they also have set in other areas of the Park survelance cameras plus will also monitor this one specific area for any traffic going in or out just remember that John Laroche got caught sooner or later the poacher will get caught we'll just have to monitor the area myself and flhiker this one specific population of GHOST orchids

Totally misunderstood. Mike I was there a while back with Ross his wife and David, and the pod had opened and dropped. I have pictures of the open pod. Man what a relief. My stomach has been churnning ever since.

cool,a female park biologist once told me that what poachers really want is the polinated flower not the orchid itself but once a person starts to take or its funds$$$$$$$ its addicting its like a drug,,,truth sooner or later most likely will get caught

I'm very happy to hear that there was not a theft afterall. Can we start over?

I'm sorry, Dave. Sigh. Some people just have no respect. It seems to me, if this person was so brazen to do such a thing, that person may well do it again. . . is there any way he/she might be caught? Do you have any idea who it may have been?

Hi Dave,
I'm saddened to hear about the poached ghost! Really saddened! I am a bit confused though...is this one of the plants that we saw together, or are you referring to another one?

I was really hoping to go out with you or Mike to photograph some after my test next week, but I do understand your frustration with this incident. Let me know if you'd care to reconsider your stance taken here.
