Wild rynchostilis in Goa Female
Default Wild rynchostilis in Goa

I was in Goa last week and this is what I saw. It even caught the husband's attention. The vanilla was growing on betel nut trees. Are the orchids really rynchostilis? We could see them growing on almost every mango and jackfruit tree and they were in bloom. Exquisite!

That is spectacular. I have one that looks very much like them. Does my bloom look like those?

Looks like rhynchostylis coelestis or Aerides falcata. Do you have a close up of flower?

Interesting! I wonder if those are a string of keikis growing up the tree or if they are separate plants?

That tree looks great with the spikes hanging off of it! It does look like the plants form one long continuous chain up the tree. I really wish I could see tropical orchids in their native habitat like that. Must have been wonderful to walk around there and see blooms everywhere.

Unfortuantely I do not have a close up because the
orchids were high up and I have a aim and shoot idiot
proof camera.
I am afraid I cant say for certain if Dave's orchid in the photo is the same as I saw at Goa. But it looks similar too my very amateur eyes.
Every blooming stalk is a separate plant.
Yes ,Camille seeing wild orchids for the first time is
like seeing a tiger in the wild for the first time. They look at home there.

Thanks all for the replies.
