The Encyclia tampensis are blooming again. I have been watching a few plants as they have developed buds. The buds are so cool - they develop for a couple weeks and once they are ready, they burst wide open in just a few hours.

This shot has an ant on the bloom. I noticed a few different ants walking around, as well as a really tiny spider. I'm not sure if these ants have anything to do with pollination or not. Any thoughts?

An older shot of a very green specimen:

I've got some more pretty cool shots, but the background on them is way too dark and monochromatic, so I am going to shoot the composition again but try to get a more colorful background. I'll probably photograph them tomorrow morning because it is so much easier before the wind starts.

Saturday I will get to photograph a Ghost (and see a Ghost in bloom) for the first time! I am very excited... If I mess up with the shots, I will have a chance to try again (if I can find some more in bloom) towards the end of the month when I spend a week photographing orchids in the Fakahatchee / Everglades.

Great pictures of a great little orchid in the wild, Justin. I will watch for more pictures later.
