Another of Florida's rarest orchids - Tolumnia bahamensis

It's been a while since I read the article (Prem's??) but I believe the two known locations are JDSTP and another location in Martin County.

I have killed two already, both were stick mounts. One got blown off the rack and chewed by my pug (he ate it).

I just picked one up at the Redland Orchid Fair and it has a bloom on it. Very tiny flowers compared to my Variegata. The Bahamense flowers are only about a half inch wide/high.

First of all, I'm not going to get in a fight of words with somebody has been posting as long as you have, because I respect your obsession, but, don't tell me what is civil and what is not civil, because if we were keeping this civil, and using this site for it's intended purpose, I wouldn't have to make comments like that because I would be able to view this beautiful orchid as I have dreamed to for many years. I have spent countless hours searching for this orchid with the most pure of intentions and I just don't have the time to find it on my own. I have been asking for assistance from various sources honestly for five years. I am not frustrated. I am disappointed.

Doesn't this answer your question. I don't think getting too specific, is necessarily the best thing to do for endangered natives. Locally (I'm in SW Ontario Canada), I know of natives that were stolen out of the Provincial park, they were growing in. It's nothing personal, I'm sure, and what would you have the other members say. It's by the big tree, near the red rock, next to the little brook that babbles merrily??
Unless you are there, at exactly the right time, it sounds like this is one of those plants that would get overlooked. Why not ask the member if they would mind meeting up with you some weekend and go hunting together. You might get lucky and spot some, or you might spot something else all together.

Tol. bahamensis have also been poached in the areas where they grow, so the locations are not being made public...I'm sorry that bothers people, but it's for the protection of the plants.

I believe that bahamensis are only known from the Palm Beach/Martin County line area. Perhaps you're thinking of Oncidium floridanum?

Prem, you are right about the bahamensis not being in Dade. But I don't remember the plants I am talking about being as big as the floridanum (not that big or yellow). So I am still confused. Of course it was over 30 years ago.
