Hey Prem, I just went to JDSP yesterday. Oh my gawd!!! What the hell happened there? It looked like 90% of the park has been clear-burned. Where your pics taken after, or before this tragedy? Are those Tols still OK?

Hi 'got ants',
I took my pictures back in April, so I don't know the status of the area in question. I know someone who lives right in the area (he, in fact, directed me to these plants). I will have him check on the plants to see if they're ok.

Just checked on the Tolumnia population that I had photographed last year. It does appear that a control burn was done in the area, but it must've been a very cool burn, as all the bahamensis are looking healthy and blooming their little hearts out right now.

I have this species in my collection. I will have to try to modify the culture to mimic the natural habitat...maybe it will bloom better.

It has bloomed twice for me but is very fragile.

Prem,

Mind sharing the location? I live about 20 minutes from JD and can't find these things for the life of me.

Thanks!

Are we talking about Jonathan Dickinson State Park? Do they grow further south, too? I seem to remember those down in south Miami in the pine/palmetto woods where they eventually built the turnpike extension. Same one?
