So I was out and about this weekend and my girlfriend's little sister, told me of the gorgeous little beauties growing around their house. She had only mentioned about 5 pink lady slippers growing on a trail next to their driveway. But what i found was more then 50 plants most without flowers. I took some pictures. So these terrestrials have a symbiotic relationship with a fungus that actually opens the seed and feeds the protocorms until they start producing enough sugars to start giving some back to the fungus. I found this little tid-bit especially pleasing!

Hope you all enjoy. They are kinda dark, and probably out of focus but it what i have to work with....

PS the picture with the stump on the ridge of sandy clay is the same ridge they were all growing on.
