From what I gather from your original post, the pic was taken in September, is that correct? My friend doesn't think it's magnicamporum.

He's thinking S. cernua

I don't think it would be cernua- The leaves aren't present when flowering, and the structure doesn't seem the same, it has the same structure as S. magnicamporum but different shaped leaves. And sorry, but I do not have another picture, that's all I had because I spotted them in a rush to get back home for dinner. I can go back and look for seed pods maybe.

There's no way to ID from seed pods. One comment my friend made was that the plant looked very stressed. With cernua being a bog species, if it did germinate and grow in a prairie environment, it would certainly be stressed.

yeah- found it in a pretty dry prairie area
