I read The Orchid Thief by Susan Orlean last year in May. The Ghost Orchids in this video were beautiful, and the Fig Sphinx Moth captured on film pollinating the Ghost Orchid was the coolest thing!

Yeah, I don't know about those snakes... most of them are poisonous. I remember the book,The Orchid Thief stating John Laroche and Susan Orlean had to walk with a walking stick in the swamp not just for support but also to make sure what they were about to step on wasn't an alligator, snake, or just a tree stump. Eek!

Just a tidbit of info but snakes aren’t poisonous, they are venomous. A common mislabel of terminology. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched a show on Discovery Channel or NatGeo where the narrator states a snake is poisonous. You would think educational programs like that would be able to differentiate between the two meanings and their proper application in regards to snakes or other venomous creatures (spiders, scorpions, bees, wasps, etc.)

Rattlesnake tastes like chicken. I haven't had iguana yet but maybe they will open an Ig-Fil-A in Miami before my next visit.
